How UKEF can help you

We work with 70 private credit insurers and lenders to help UK companies and overseas buyers access export finance.
Export finance is the particular class of loans, insurance policies or bank guarantees that enable international trade to take place as easily and securely as possible.

Benefits to scaleups

Here are some of the ways we can help you export your goods and services:

Bond Support Scheme

Through our Bond Support Scheme, we provide partial guarantees to banks in support of UK exports. Where a bank issues a contract bond or indemnifies an overseas bank providing the bond in respect of a UK export contract, we can guarantee up to 80% of the value of the bond.

Export Working Capital Scheme

The Export Working Capital Scheme assists UK exporters in gaining access to working capital finance both pre- and post-shipment in respect of specific export-related contracts. We can provide partial guarantees to lenders to cover the credit risks associated with export working capital facilities. Where a lender provides such a facility in respect of a UK export-related contract, we can guarantee up to 80% of the risk.

Export Insurance Policy

The Export Insurance Policy insures an exporter against the risk of not being paid under an export contract, or of not being able to recover the costs of performing that contract because of certain events which prevent its performance or lead to its termination.

How export finance managers can help

For businesses looking to export, but don’t know where to turn, we can help companies get the support they need in a variety of ways.

Benefits to scaleups

Our EFMs can provide a wealth of information such as:

  • payment methods and risks
  • the types of finance available
  • trade finance (pre and post-export)
